Going into 2024, Salesian Missions faced mounting SEO headwinds in an increasingly volatile search environment. Google’s major Core Web Vitals updates and the introduction of AI Overviews caused widespread disruption across the web, with many organizations experiencing dramatic traffic losses and ranking instability. 

Without intervention, Salesian Missions’ site was at risk of continued organic traffic decline, inefficient indexation and erosion of search visibility—particularly against competitors with stronger technical foundations and cleaner backlink profiles.

Establishing stability and technical health  

RKD focused first on resolving core technical issues that limited search engine efficiency and user experience: 

  • Recovered 129 broken backlinks, restoring lost link equity and strengthening domain authority 
  • Disavowed 2,347 spam backlinks to protect the site from potential ranking penalties 
  • Recovered 2,264 missing meta descriptions, improving search visibility and click-through rates 
  • Recovered 958 incomplete Open Graph tags, improving content appearance and engagement across social platforms 
  • Optimized 1,533 slow-loading pages, improving page speed, user experience and engagement signals 

These fixes ensured search engines could more effectively crawl, index and interpret key content while creating a more seamless experience for users.
