When we began our journey with Kentucky Humane Society in 2014, they had a stable and mature direct response program. And while things were doing well, they were looking for a partner to enhance their approach, to take their program to the next level and to expand their presence into additional channels.

We began by diving into their program, mining the gold of the great work they were already doing, and amplifying it with the following: 

  • Applying advanced data analytics to uncover hidden opportunities with major donors, planned giving and in other areas where we saw potential for growth 
  • Expanding the reach of their acquisition program 
  • Integrating their digital and mail communications 
  • Focusing on the reactivation of lapsed donors 
  • Continually testing with an eagerness to try new things 

Results

Our work to grow and enhance their program paid off, with metrics up across the board. Eight years later, overall revenue has increased 40.8% year over year, more than doubling what they were raising before joining RKD. With a 42.2% lift in active donor counts, overall retention rates reaching 51% and a 1.4% increase in gift frequency, Kentucky Humane Society has developed an extremely robust fundraising program with incredible brand recognition within their community. 

Thanks to their willingness to try new things and invest in new areas of opportunity, Kentucky Humane Society is set up for continued growth for years to come.
